We welcome volunteers at St John's. Please speak to you child's classroom teacher and ensure you have the required checks below.

Child Safe Community

Every child is entitled to be educated and cared for in a safe environment, and in a manner that enhances their opportunities to grow and develop to reach their full potential.

St John’s Catholic School operates under the Child Safe Framework. This Framework sets out the behavioural and system requirements necessary to guide child safety practices and procedures within Catholic Education in Tasmania. The Framework can be accessed as part of the Child Safe Organisation Policy located on the Catholic Education Tasmania website.

Working with Vulnerable People

St John’s Catholic School requires employees, volunteers and external providers engaged to work on school sites to hold Working with Vulnerable People registration. Working with Vulnerable People is a compulsory background check for many people who work or volunteer with children and vulnerable people in Tasmania. Application for the Working With Vulnerable People check is through the Justice Department Website.

Police Checks

All non-teaching employees and nominated volunteers within Catholic schools are required to take part in the Police Check process. Police checks are conducted every three years (maximum) or as required by changes in job/task responsibilities.

For more information please access the Working in Catholic Education section of the Tasmanian Catholic Education Office website.
